Britain’s Next Top Model Finale Event

Almost a month ago to date, we sent Rachel Carlton of Monpolkadotcheri.co.uk, to cover the BNTM Finale Event and get us some access all areas model gossip which she so successfully managed and we thought that inspite of the slight tardiness of this piece, it would be cruel of us not to share this with you…
October 22nd- 24th saw the ExCel centre in London’s Docklands play home to some of the capital’s most fashion savvy folk as the very first Britain’s Next Top Model Live set out to make a lasting impression.
And that it certainly did, from the crystal statues in the foyer you knew it was a day to remember. The show was opened by Charley Speed, Emma Willis and BNTM finalists Joy, Tiffany, Charlotte, Alisha and Amelia who were then performing on the catwalk, giving talks throughout the day and frequenting the press area (where I was stationed) for photo calls and staying for a chat with the press after.

The event was full of great boutiques, places to pamper yourself and of course lots to eat and drink! The stores ranged from Urban Outfitters who were giving away lots of goodie bags to little individual stands with lots of bargains to be had. On the pampering front there was the Elemis Spa bus where I was treated to a complimentary facial and massage, the ultimate way to chill out on a packed press day. To top your makeup off after the massive relaxation was the Powder Room ran by the girls at the London College of Beauty therapy offering makeovers and manicures. The most bizarre of the beauty treatments on the menu was the latest way to pamper your feet- Fish pedicures, I was polite and declined this.

After my facial sans makeup a nightmare broke loose, it was back to the press area to meet the BNTM girls. I was about to meet 5 models with sleepy eyes. It was quickly overcome though when I realised how lovely the girls were.
The biggest part of the day was the BNTM catwalk, all the girls strutted their stuff on the catwalk and looked amazing. I had serious body envy of every single one of them but was not in the slight bit jealous of Joy when she was carried above four men’s heads! For the finale Tiffany emerged to applause wearing a beautifully stunning mirrored dress.

As I didn’t have much time to get the girls alone on press day I grabbed Tiffany and Joy for a chat on the second day and both were completely different animals.

The first thing Joy picked up on was that I was northern too (I’m from Newcastle and she Leeds) so the first thing she told me was how different and surreal London was to up here. she told me that she is “going to try and focus on photo shoots as catwalk is definately my weak spot. I’ve a few campaigns in the pipeline but I don’t want to say too much cos I’m waiting to finalise them. More than anything though I would LOVE to appear in Vogue.”

Tiff was a little bit more guarded; I suspect that she’s had media training since winning so I got alot more from her by just chatting casually. She was a lovely girl though and told me “I’m still living in a BNTM bubble where everything is new and exciting, but I’ve just started going to Go- See’s which I love but they can be nerve racking. I get on well with all the girls but the only time I cried during the show was when Amelia left, we were like best friends” (she then looked at Amelia and jokingly went “you were meant to agree there!”)
All in all it was such a fantastic event especially in its organisation, here’s to next years Britain’s Next Top Model Live
